Brock Lesnar recently announced his retirement from the UFC after his loss against UFC debutant Alistair Overeem.
Highly touted striker Overeem defeated Brock Lesnar in the first rounded with a solid liver kick which sent Lesnar to the canvas wincing in pain. Shortly after the fight Lesnar announced that he'd had discussions with his family prior to the fight and had agreed to retire if he would lose, else he would have stayed in the hunt for the belt.
Overeem will now face off against current UFC heavyweight title holder Junior Dos Santos.
Lesnar's departure from the UFC will be a huge loss for the organization due to his crowd pulling power, however it was obvious after his recent TKO defeats to Velasquez and Overeem that Lesnar still had a long way to go to become a complete and rounded fighter.
The UFC recently announced at a last minute press conference that Brock Lesnar would be withdrawing from his fight against Junior Dos Santos due to a recurrence of diverticulitis.
The fight which was scheduled for UFC 131 in Vancouver was meant to be Brock's come-back fight after losing his title to Cain Velasquez, and has been recently built-up in the Ultimate Fighter reality tv series where Brock and Junior are both coaches.
At this stage Brock said that he hopes to continue fighting but will not be making a decisions as he awaits results from the Mayo clinic. Junior Dos Santos will now face Shane Carwin in place of Brock.
According to MMA Junkie Dana White has recently announced that Junior Dos Santos and Brock Lesnar will be the coaches for the next season of TUF. The 13th season will debut on the 30th of March, with both fighters squaring off in June, possibly in Toronto.
It has been determined that the fight will not be for an interim heavyweight title (due to an injured Velasquez), but that the winner of the fight will get a shot at the champion once he's recovered.
Lesnar is coming off his recent loss to Velasquez whereas Dos Santos has been tearing through his opponents until he went to a decision against souther slugger Roy Nelson.
Dave Meltzer of Yahoo Sports recently mentioned on a radio show that he believes that Brock's attitude towards fighting has changed since his TKO defeat to Cain Velasquez. Meltzer also mentioned that Lesnar has not trained since the loss and has not been returning phone calls to Dana White or Zuffa about upcoming matches. He believes that Lesnar is at a stage in his life where he doesn't want to get injured, and may be looking to do WrestleMania, where he could reportedly make $2 million for 30 minutes of work.
At this stage it's possible that Lesnar may have one more fight and end his contract.
Dana White has just confirmed that Brock Lesnar will make his next title defence against Cain Velasquez at UFC 121 in Anaheim California.
Lesnar (5-1), who recently came of a second round submission win over Carwin will be taking on Velasquez (8-0) who came off a victory over Antonio Rodrigo Nogeuira.
The last time the UFC was in Anaheim was when Keith Jardine beat Chuck Liddell.
Randy Couture heads over to Death Clutch Training Camp to assist with Brock Lesnar's preparation for Shane Carwin
In a recent interview renowned heavyweight Fedor Emelianenko said he wasn't a fan of the UFC. Lesnar prolaims he is no fan of Fedor either. The current UFC heavyweight champion said he thinks Fedor is "the greatest champion of all time....in his own little world".
With recent talks of Fedor considering retirement, a fight between the two top heavyweights may never transpire. Either way, Lesnar says he would have no problems facing Fedor and is confident he would beat him, stating that he believes he "can beat anybody".
For now, Lesnar will have to focus for his next fight against Shane Carwin on the UFC 116 card. Fedor's current contract with Strikeforce is nearing it's conclusion, and it remains to be seen if he will continue to fight further for them or any other organisation.

Frank Mir recently stated that he wants to break Lesnar's neck, and wanted Lesnar to be the first one to die due to Octagon-related injuries. Mir stated that he feels as though people don't often speak their minds and are more interested in masking their real emotions in order to be politically correct. He says his hatred for Lesnar is genuine and that he doesn't care for him as a fighter or a human being. After his statement, Mir was quickly pulled back into line by the UFC and appearead to reluctantly make an apology to Lesnar and his family. Mir may get his chance to avenge his loss to Lesnar, but first he will have to defeat Shane Carwin for the interim Heavyweight Championship at UFC 111 on March 27th.

Latest news from the
UFC, Lesnar is fighting fit and ready to get back into the Octagon.
Lesnar claims to have been not been feeling well for a long period of time prior to his diagnosis, citing flu-like symptoms. It wasn't until October, when on vacation, that Lesnar's condition worsened. Lesnar returned home with severe stomach pain and was diagnosed with diverticulitis. He refused surgery, as there was a chance that he would never be able to fight again. Lesnar chose to take time off and heal with a strict diet and rest, and after initially losing 40 pounds, he is now on the path of recovery, having regained 30 pounds and feeling strong again. He is training again and was quoted as saying "Let’s make it clear, I still am the UFC heavyweight champion." Lesnar said he is ready to take on anybody. It's likely that an opponent will be decided for Lesnar out of the fights in the near future between Carwin/Mir and Velasquez/Noguiera.
Rumblings from Lesnar's camp suggest that the UFC heavyweight juggernaught will return to fight another day in the UFC. Two of Lesnar's trainers, Greg Nelson and Marty morgan each confirmed that Lesnar would be back sooner rather than later. Lesnar has been on hiatus since he was diagnosed with a very serious case of diverticulitis (a bacterial infection of his intestinal tract).
Lesnar last competed in July at UFC 100 against Frank Mir, when he successfully defended his title. He was intended to defend his belt against Shane Carwin until he was sidelined with his illness. In Lesnar's absence an interim heavyweight title bout will be setup between Frank Mir and Antonio Rodigo Noguiera for UFC 111 in March.
