Munoz injured, Sonnen to face Bisping

Let the smack talking begin. Recent news from the UFC reveals that Mark Munoz will not be able to compete against Chael Sonnen due to injury. He will now face Michael Bisping on the Fox2 event slated for the 28th January. The winner of the bout will face reigning middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

Sonnen and Bisping, both notrious for their pre-fight trash talk, will no doubt live up to their reputations. Stylistically it should be an interesting matchup as a classic striker versus grappler contents. It remains to be seen if Bisping's takedown defence will be effective against Sonnen, who not so long ago dominated Anderson Silva for five rounds until getting submitted via triangle choke in the dying seconds of the fifth.

Other noteworthy fights will include Rashad Evans vs Phil Davis, Paul Sass vs Evan Dunham, and Dustin Jacoby vs Chris Camozzy.

After Anderson Silva's recent disappointing performance against Demian Maia, Dana White is not hesitating in putting Silva back in the cage as soon as possible. It appears that Silva will face Sonnen at UFC 117 in Utah.

Citing Anderson's latest disappointing performance, White has not confirmed whether Silva will be on the main card or not. "Anderson Silva might be the first champion in history fighting on a prelim," White said following UFC 112. "How do you sell Anderson Silva after tonight? How do you do it? People don't want to see that [expletive]. I don't want to see it."

Sonnen is coming off an impressive 3 fight win streak with his latest victory coming against Middleweight standout Nate Marquardt. He says he is looking forward to fighting Silva but is not certain that Silva will accept the fight against him - "[Silva is] really good, he's really effective, and he's as unpleasing to watch as grass growing," Sonnen said. "That's why they called me to get rid of this cancer of the company."
