Cro Cop is set to replace the injured Antonio Rodrigo Noguiera in the main event of UFC 119 at Indiana's Conseco Fieldhouse on September 25.
Big Nog was forced to withdraw from the event due to a hip injury that will require surgery. Cro Cop's opponent will be the former UFC heavyweight Champion Frank Mir who is coming off a loss to Shane Carwin while Cro Cop is coming off a win over fellow Kickboxer Pat Barry.
This should be an interesting fight for Cro Cop who's known as one of the best strikers and has excellent takedown defence. Mir however has a size and reach advantage and is also known for studying his opponents and bringing a strategic fight plan.
UFC 111 will take place on Saturday, March 27 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Headlining will be GSP vs Dan Hardy and Frank Mir vs Shane Carwin
Frank Mir recently stated that he wants to break Lesnar's neck, and wanted Lesnar to be the first one to die due to Octagon-related injuries. Mir stated that he feels as though people don't often speak their minds and are more interested in masking their real emotions in order to be politically correct. He says his hatred for Lesnar is genuine and that he doesn't care for him as a fighter or a human being. After his statement, Mir was quickly pulled back into line by the UFC and appearead to reluctantly make an apology to Lesnar and his family. Mir may get his chance to avenge his loss to Lesnar, but first he will have to defeat Shane Carwin for the interim Heavyweight Championship at UFC 111 on March 27th.
