After a 5 round bout Forrest Griffin came out on top with a unanimous decision over Quinton "Rampage" Jackson. According to Sherdog however, Jackson's Coach, Juanito Ibarra, has stated that he feels Rampage was unfairly robbed of a victory, and has hinted at an appeal to the Nevada State Athletic Commission. Randy Couture however, coach and training partner of Forrest Griffin, believes that the fight was close but the decision was still correct. Couture based his logic on the fact that Griffin controlled the centre of the Octagon and appeared to be the aggressor for the majority of the fight. Forrest openly requested a rematch immediately after the fight, and although Rampage was gracious in defeat, he had no reservations in stating that he thinks he won the fight later at the post fight press conference.
